The Cedar Rapids Police Department (CRPD) has announced a pair of arrests, both tied to a shooting that left two people in the city dead in early October.

Thursday, October 5, 2023 at approximately 8:20 p.m. officers responded to the 3900 block of Sherman St. NE after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found three adult males in the parking lot of The Pointe at Cedar Rapids apartment complex. All three were suffering from numerous gunshot wounds and two of the three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two deceased men were identified as 21-year-old Myron Snyder and 21-year-old Maurice Brown, both of Cedar Rapids. It was later learned that Snyder was delivering for DoorDash at the time of the shootings.

The third person who was shot was not identified at the time. We now know it was 25-year-old Cameron A. Leonard, of Cedar Rapids. Leonard was hospitalized for his injuries and released at a later time.

According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force located the 25-year-old Leonard in Brooklyn, Iowa. That's where the Cedar Rapids man was arrested on Thursday, November 9 and booked into the Des Moines County Correctional Center in Burlington.

Leonard, whose booking photo is not available, has been charged with First-Degree Murder in the death of Myron Snyder. He's also been charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime, and Persons Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons.

Also on Thursday, the Cedar Rapids Police Department arrested 40-year-old Pierre D. Morrow of Cedar Rapids, in connection to the murder investigation. Morrow (booking photo below) has been charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm, Accessory After the Fact, and Obstructing Prosecution or Defense. He's being held at the Linn County Correctional Center in Cedar Rapids.
