The break-ins have been happening a lot lately. In fact, five times in just the past week. The thieves usually target dispensaries, sneaker shops, and gun stores. They're businesses a little harder to steal from. They've come up with an idea. The suspects target a car to steal. Then, they back it way up. Once in place, they'll floor it.

That's when they do the "crash and grab." They drive extremely fast into the front door or window of a business. The suspects bust through the wall, jump out of the vehicle, and grab what they can. It's very dangerous and several people could end up getting seriously injured.

The last few mornings, businesses across the city have woken up to their storefronts smashed open with cars and burglarized – and now, Chicago Police have put out an alert.

 

The crime is called a ram-and-raid or a crash-and-grab. Stores are being targeted by burglars who use a car to break in.
