Bears Coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace Both Fired After A 6-11 Season
This morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that among what seems to be an NFC house cleaning this morning, Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy has been canned.
Nagy was named NFL Coach of The Year after his first coaching season in 2018, after leading the Bears on a 12-4 record and reaching the playoffs for the first time in eight years for the team.
Since his first year, the team's record seemingly has gotten worse and worse, with this year ending with a 6-11 record.
Nagy's firing has been long expected, especially after a local report came out that Nagy would be fired at the end of the Bears' Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions.
The Bears beat the Lions on Thanksgiving Day, ending a 1-8 streak.
At the same time, Bears General Manager Ryan Pace has also been fired. Pace had been the team's personnel boss since 2015, with those seven seasons adding up to a 48-65 record.
