These Are Iowa’s Favorite Pro Football Teams: I Call BS

Iowans are huge sports fans. Obviously, with no Iowa-based pro teams, we're diehard college sports fans. Hawkeyes, Cyclones, Panthers, Knights, Bulldogs... oh my!

But when it comes to what pro teams we support, the answer, according to one source, may surprise or even shock you.

Now, this study focuses on just NFL football. Why? While Iowans are wild about basketball, when it comes to our favorite pro sport, it's football hands down.

And the findings show that our favorite team is... drum roll...

The Minnesota Vikings. Yes, the NFC North team known by many as the Purple People Eaters who have won exactly zero Super Bowl games are our favorite NFL team. Look, I am from Minnesota, and I am a Vikes fan, but I just don't see it. Like, literally. When I look around, I see several other NFL team fans.

Our second favorite NFL team according to this loose study is...

The Chicago Bears. The lovable losers are also a part of the NFC North.

I'd honestly have thought the Bears would be top 2, so this isn't shocking. But I see a good number of Bears fans in Eastern Iowa. Makes sense, the eastern part of the state is that much closer to Chicago.

Number three on the list, yet another NFC North team...

The Green Bay Packers. Yep, Cheesehead Nation has a strong presence in Iowa. I would have thought the Packers would have been either first or second. Third is a bit of a shock.

I feel like everyone in Iowa is a Pack fan. Maybe it's because I'm a Vikings fan? Who knows.

the number four team on the list is the multiple-time Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs. No surprise here, right? They have to be top 5 based on location if nothing else. Doesn't hurt that they're really really good.

Our fifth favorite, and the last on the list is, pun intended, a bit of a Hail Mary. None other than the Denver Broncos.

I mean, I guess. Why not? Denver isn't that far West. They are by far the furthest of the top 5 from Iowa, but they're a team with a legendary history and some unbelievable players. Well, at one time...
