Over the holidays the Iowa Pork Producers Association kicked off its participation in that nationwide “Give-A-Ham” challenge. The 2022 Iowa Pork Producers Association’s president. Kevin Rasmussen and his wife Lisa donated ten 4-pound hams to Upper Des Moines Opportunity, a local food bank in Humboldt before challenging the now-president Trish Cook.

Then the Iowa Pork Producers, Farm Credit Service of America, and Iowa State University Athletics teamed up to both raise money and donate pork. Throughout the 2022 football season, each time the Cyclones sack the quarterback, $1,000 and 200 pounds of pork will be donated. In 2022, Iowa Pork helped donate $18,000and 3,600 pounds of pork to the Iowa Food Bank Association

And now the Iowa Pork Producers Association is at it again!

On Friday, February 3rd, IPPA announced a new program that county pork organizations can take part in to give back to the community.

The Pork in the Pantry program will reimburse county pork groups that make pork donations to food pantries in their county.

In a release, IPPC President Trish Cook said it's important to support local communities.

Our local communities are important to all of us. Our industry creates local jobs and supports local businesses. But there are other people in our communities that are facing economic challenges, and we want to support them with the great food that we produce.

The Pork in the Pantry program will reimburse up to $1,000 to each county pork group that donates pork products through April 8th.
