This week, we started to see more ice on the roads as temperatures. Drivers all across Iowa are being reminded to drive carefully in these conditions.

But this isn’t the only thing that can go wrong, which is, unfortunately, the case with an accident Monday afternoon.

On Monday, officers were called in Chickasaw County after a person was pinned under a piece of equipment.

According to reports, officers were called to the scene just before noon to Vanderbilt Avenue and 160th street, just north of Lawler.

An equipment operator was loading a tracked vehicle onto a flatbed trailer when the vehicle rolled off. The vehicle then went into a ditch where it trapped a person.

Unfortunately, the trapped person died in the accident.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
