Last week we showed you an accident between a car and farm equipment that thankfully looked worse than it actually was.

Story County Deputies responded to a road accident involving a vehicle and farm equipment. As you can see in the photos, one of the spikes on the equipment, lodged into the windshield of the car.

However, this is unfortunately not the case after an accident early Friday morning.

Two people were injured after a semi-truck collided with another semi-truck.

Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a motor accident at around 1:40 am Friday morning near the 261-mile marker of Highway 20. The accident happened between the westbound lanes and the exit ramp to Racine Avenue.

Upon arrival, the deputies found that a 2018 Peterbilt semi-tractor-trailer collided with a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia semi-tractor-trailer that was parked on the side of the road. The Freightliner was operated by Jordan Shaw of The Villages Florida and the Peterbilt was operated by Bradley Strese of Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Strese was traveling westbound on Highway 20 when he struck the rear of Shaw’s trailer. The accident caused significant damage to both vehicles as well as shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 20.

Both Shaw and Strese were transported to Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. The nature of their injuries was not specified in the Sheriff’s Office’s release.

Strese was also later cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Quasqueton Fire Department and AMR Ambulance Service.
