On Monday, two people were seriously injured in an accident involving a pickup, semi, and an icy road.

Monday morning at around 10:11 AM, the Fayette County dispatch received a 911 call after two vehicles were involved in an accident. The accident happened just northeast of Sumner on County Road V-68 between 170th and 165th street.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office and Iowa State Patrol arrived on the scene and discovered that a 2016 Chevy truck had been hit head-on by a semi-truck. The Chevy lost control from the icy roadway.

There were two people in the Chevy when it was hit.

The two people in the Chevy were transported to the Sumner Hospital with serious injuries. The semi-driver was uninjured.

As of now, no names connected to the accident have been released as the Iowa State Patrol investigates the accident and the status of the injured people is known.

Fire Destroys Eastern Iowa Machine Shed

Over in Linn County, a fire caused significant damage to a farm property on Sunday.

At around 10 AM on Sunday morning, the Linn County Sheriff’s Department received a call reporting a fire just southeast of Palo. When firefighters arrived, they found that the machine shed was on fire.

The owner of the property was home and trying to remove the property from inside the shed. According to KCRG, the building and contents were a total loss.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire.
