Caitlin Clark Vs. Angel Reese: The Battle For Rookie Supremacy
We're approaching the halfway point of the WNBA season and if fans were wondering if Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese would continue their rivalry from college, wonder no more. The two rookies have both had outstanding rookie seasons and continue to battle for the WNBA Rookie of the Year.
Yesterday the Associated Press released the updated Rookie of the Year polling results, and Athlon Sports reports that Caitlin Clark remains the front-runner. The 15-member panel updates their votes each week. Yesterday, it was revealed that Clark leads at the halfway point of the season 9-5 with one member electing not to vote.
One of the panelists chose Clark over Reese due to the Indiana Fever having a better team record and Clark having a 2-1 record head-to-head over Reese thus far this season. There are still plenty of games left this season and both players have been setting records of late.
Caitlin Clark became the first WNBA rookie in history to record a triple-double in a win over the New York Liberty this past Saturday. Meanwhile, Angel Reese broke the all-time record for consecutive double-doubles with 13, surpassing the mark previously held by Candice Parker according to Athlon Sports.
Clark is also having more success off the court. Her exclusive line of Wilson basketballs launched this week. They're already gone!
It should be an exciting finish to the WNBA season as both players fight for the ROTY award and a place in the playoffs!
