University of Iowa Tops U.S. News Rankings in Several Programs

Here's what happens when you're good at something, people tend to notice.  Don't look now but the University of Iowa is up to more good things.  They've been noticed by the folks at U.S. News & World Report.  They're reporting that U of I is keeping top rankings.  The University is highly regarded in several key academic areas, especially the nursing and writing programs.  You'll notice I am writing about their nursing and writing programs, I am not in them.  So, here you'll be treated to the writing style of a pre-schooler.  If only the keyboard had a backward r.

What does U.S. News & World Report think Iowa is doing well?

U.S. News & World Report says that U of I is tied for the No.1 spot among public universities for undergraduate nursing programs, and it's also recognized as having the best public writing program in the country.  When you factor in public and private universities, U of I still is ranked at no. 4 in nursing program excellence and this underscores the quality of education and clinical training provided by the UI College of Nursing, which prepares students for successful careers in healthcare.  With not only Iowa but the entire country dealing with a nursing shortage, we need well-trained nurses.

How does the university rank overall?

According to U.S. News & World Report, While the university ranks No. 46 among public universities and No. 98 overall, the emphasis on specific programs indicates that Iowa is building a reputation in targeted areas, even if its overall ranking is lower. The U.S. News rankings consider various criteria, such as graduation rates, faculty resources, and financial health.
