Praise was coming from all over for former Northern Iowa wide receiver Isaiah Weston at Cleveland Browns camp and especially Browns rookie mini-camp.

The FCS All-American was not only impressing the fans and coaching staff, but after other injuries to the wide receiving corps, he was getting extra reps and catches.

More reps and catches mean more of an opportunity to make the 53-man roster when the season comes around.

Things were looking up until Saturday of this week when a report came from Browns camp that it was feared he may have torn his ACL.

According to Cleveland.com, "Early word was that they were hoping it was a meniscus injury and not a torn ACL, which would cost him the season."

Nothing conclusive has been released at this time, but a verdict on the injury is expected to be released today, Monday, August 1. Since the injury, he's been released by the organization.

Oft-injured during his time at UNI, the kid just can't catch a break.

After a breakout redshirt-freshman campaign in 2017 where he caught 22 passes for 380 yards and five touchdowns, the Albertville, Minnesota native tore his ACL during camp in 2018 and missed the entire season.

He came back and played the entire 2019 season healthy, registering 1,053 total yards receiving (10th all-time in UNI history) and hauling in ten touchdowns.

In the spring of 2021, he played in three of UNI's seven games before going down with an injury, and in his return this past season, he put up 37 receptions, 883 yards, and five TDs.

Most believe the talented wideout went undrafted due to that injury history -- when healthy, Weston was easily one of the best receivers in the FCS.

Here's a clip from an interview with Isaiah on Cornstalks and Sports Talk shortly after he was picked up by the Browns this spring:
