Spring is a truly wonderful time in Iowa and the Midwest. But, there is one sign of spring and summer that no one, I mean NO ONE looks forward to...

I'm talking about when the world's deadliest critter returns to our neck of the woods.
The Most Dangerous Creature on Earth Will Be Back Soon
In case you weren't aware, the biggest threat to humans, and other animals, isn't a two or four-legged animal. It's a six-legged one.
That's right. The dreaded mosquito isn't just a nasty, itchy nuisance; it's potentially deadly.
The CDC confirms mosquitos are more deadly than any other animal. Why? While they can't trample you like a giant animal, ram into your car like a deer, or kill you in any number of ways like a fellow human, they could potentially infect you with a nasty disease.
Mosquitos have been known to carry:
- West Nile
- Dengue
- Chikungunya
- Zika
- Malaria
Or other nasty diseases and viruses. Because mosquitos are blood suckers, that opens up the potential for them to spread diseases from one mammal to another.
While we cannot avoid mosquitos, unless we never leave the house, we can stave them off.
The CDC recommends using bug spray to prevent mosquito bites. With small children and babies, it's recommended that you dress your child in something that will adequately cover their arms and legs.
