Will it be cold? Are we expecting any rain? Should I mentally prepare myself to force my kid into their jacket OVER their Halloween costume?!?
However, it's not too often that we have to think about snow on Halloween here in the Hawkeye State.
Has It Ever Snowed on Halloween In Iowa?
Not only has it snowed in Iowa on Halloween, but in the early '90s there was a full on snow storm at the end of October.
According to a report from KCCI, Halloween 1991 was one for the record books.
More than 80,000 homes were without power when the Halloween blizzard moved through Iowa with wind gusts upwards of 50 MPH.
These outages lasted for a week depending on the region.
More than a foot of snow swept into Iowa on October 30th and lasted until November 1st. Not only was there heavy snow, but there was somewhere between two to three inches of ice.
Will It Snow on Halloween This Year?
From the looks of things, there is no snow in the forecast.
According to a report from our weather partners, there is a good chance of rain and storms moving through our listenership towards the middle of the week. However, once Halloween rolls around things will dry off.
In a prediction from KCRG, Halloween will most likely be dry and cooler than earlier in the week. On the actual evening of Halloween, the temperatures are set to drop quite a bit into the mid to low fifties.
