Man Arrested for Burglarizing Area Airport

Authorities have arrested an area man who allegedly broke into the Oelwein Municipal Airport.

Just before 9 a.m. Thursday (April 27), the Fayette County Sheriff took a report of a burglary at the Oelwein Municipal Airport, located just west of the city on 40th Street.

Following an investigation and some interviews, officers arrested 51-year-old Michael Burton of Oelwein, on charges of 3rd-degree burglary, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burton was discovered, apparently hiding out in a storage unit on 20th Street in Oelwein, where he was taken into custody without any further incident.
