Restored Dance Hall Has Grand Re-opening

Area residents who remember the heyday of dance halls filled with music, are invited to a special event this weekend.

The historic Coliseum Ballroom in Oelwein will have a grand re-opening this Sunday (June 25).

Local historian Dave Moore and others have been working over the past few months in putting the venue back into it's close-to original condition.

The extensive renovations include rehabilitating the original dance floor, replacing seating, and decorations.

This Sunday's event will begin at 1pm, and will feature music from 7 area country and old-time music bands, who will play each hour until 9pm.

In between the performances, local talent will entertain the audience.

The cost of admission is $10, and concessions will be available for purchase.
