A young Northeast Iowa woman faces charges for allegedly burning a child with a cigarette as a punishment.

After a week-long investigation concerning a child endangerment case in Arlington, the Fayette County Sheriff and Department of Human Services are alleging that 19-year-old Kayci Hahn had burned a 6-year-old girl with a lit cigarette as a punishment, which left a burn on the child.

At the time of the incident, Hahn had been watching her boyfriend's children. Hahn apparently became upset at the child, and burned her. The child, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She and the other 2 children in the home were removed by the DHS, and placed with other family members.

Hahn was arrested and taken to the Fayette County jail, where she posted the $3,000 bond the next day.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are possible.
