Two men died Tuesday in separate traffic accidents that occurred less than three hours apart in Marshall County.

The Iowa State Patrol identified the victims as 72-year-old Terry Stubbs and 59-year-old John St. Clair, both of Marshalltown.

According to a crash report, Stubbs was killed when he lost control of his westbound motorcycle on U.S. Highway 30 east of Marshalltown. Authorities said the accident happened around 5:30 PM after Stubbs passed several vehicles. While moving back into the right lane, he went onto the gravel shoulder, lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.

Stubbs was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

St. Clair was killed in a single-vehicle crash southwest of Marshalltown just before 8:30 PM.

The Iowa State Patrol said St. Clair died when he failed to negotiate a curve on gravel road in rural Marshall County. The pickup truck he was driving rolled several times, and came to rest on its top in a farm field.
