A New Smoothie Shop is Now Open in Cedar Rapids

It's finally here!

Back in early February, it was revealed that Cedar Rapids would be getting its very own Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The popular chain first opened in Florida in 1993, eventually expanding to over 850 locations across the country! According to Wikipedia, the company is more popular than ever, with "2,000 projected openings across the United States by 2024."

Tropical Smoothie Cafe serves over 20 types of smoothies, including fruit blends, veggie blends, and tropical flavors, with a variety of supplements and fresh add-ins. Some of the fan favorites include the Sunrise Sunset with strawberries, pineapple, mango, and orange juice, the Acai Berry Boost with acai, pomegranate, banana, blueberries, and strawberries, and the Avocolada, which contains avocado, pineapple, spinach, kale, coconut, and lime.

In addition to smoothies, Tropical Smoothie Cafe also offers a variety of food, like flatbreads, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, and salads. The website lists the Chicken Pesto Flatbread and the Turkey Bacon Ranch Sandwich as fan favorites, but my favorite right now is the Chipotle Chicken Club Flatbread. It's SO GOOD!

The Cedar Rapids Tropical Smoothie Cafe is located at 2215 Edgewood Road SW at the corner of Edgewood Road and Wilson Avenue SW. It's the first location here in Eastern Iowa, but the fifth in the state. All of the other locations are over in the Des Moines area.
