Area Man Accused of Assaulting a Child is Arrested

A rural West Union man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a child.

Shortly after noon Sunday (Dec. 23), the Fayette County Sheriff was called out on the report of a possible child endangerment incident at a residence, near West Union. An investigation determined that 34-year-old David Gordon allegedly assaulted a child at his residence. Gordon was arrested on a charge of Child Endangerment Causing Injury. He was held in the Fayette County jail until his initial court appearance.

A Monona man faces charges, on an accusation that he violated a no-contact order in Fayette County. 26-year-old Alex Dettbarn was taken into custody in Elkader, then transported to the Fayette County jail for his initial court appearance. Dettbarn is being charged with Violating a No-Contact Order, and Stalking.

And early Friday, at about 2:00 a.m., a Fayette County deputy found a vehicle at Fireman's Park, near Westgate. After an investigation, 29-year-old Justin Bartels of Fayette was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.
