Counterfeit Money Alert

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is alerting area business owners and the public of counterfeit money recently received by a Clermont business.

On Tuesday, the sheriff was notified that someone had passed a fake $20 bill during a transaction at an unidentified Clermont business.

The Secret Service has been notified, as is standard procedure, and the incident remains under investigation.

The sheriff is reminding businesses to be vigilant when handling money.
