A Northeast Iowa traffic accident has taken the life of a Minnesota resident.

It happened Saturday (March 12th) at about 9:30am on Highway 24, 3 miles west of Fort Atkinson.

A sport utility vehicle, driven by 55 year old Robin Meredith of Caledonia, Minnesota, left the road onto the shoulder and struck a bridge rail. The SUV briefly went airborne, then rolled down an embankment.

Meredith was ejected from the vehicle; the driver was taken to the Winneshiek County Hospital in Decorah, but died from the injuries.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Winneshiek County Sheriff, Fort Atkinson Fire Department, Winneshiek County Ambulance, and Houston County Rescue.
