Five area residents have been injured in a traffic accident involving three vehicles in Butler County.


It happened just before 5pm Tuesday (Jan. 24) on Highway 3 in Shell Rock.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, an eastbound pickup driven by 54-year-old Donette Johnson of Mount Vernon, went out of control, crossing the center line and colliding with a van driven by 78-year-old Robert Hoodjer of Allison, and a vehicle driven by 38-year-old William Filippo of Waterloo.

All three drivers were injured, as well as 2 passengers: 82-year old Robert Rule and 79-year-old Connie Rule, both of Allison.

All 5 of the victims were taken to the Waverly hospital for treatment.
