The Fayette County Sheriff continues to investigate a weekend accident that sent four people to the hospital.


At about 12:30pm Saturday (Sept. 29) the sheriff received several 911 calls, reporting an accident involving injuries, at the uncontrolled intersection of "B" Avenue and 20th Street, which is in the far southeast corner of the county, south of Arlington.

A vehicle driven by 56-year-old Timothy West of Strawberry Point, collided with a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Michael Baker of Earlville. Both drivers and a passenger in each vehicle, were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles, a 2014 Buick Enclave and a 2007 Chevy Suburban, were totaled.

The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff's Office, Clayton County Conservation, Clayton County Ambulance Service, Strawberry Point Ambulance Service, Lamont and Strawberry Point Fire and First Responders.

The accident is still under investigation, and charges may be forthcoming.
