Freezing Rain, Snow Cause Numerous Accidents
It was a very busy 8 hours for deputies in Fayette County Tuesday; because of the freezing rain and snow, between the hours of 6am and 2pm, officers responded to numerous vehicles in the ditches throughout the county. Only minor damage was done, and no injuries were reported.
One of the accidents involved three vehicles, including one owned by an area television station.
It happened west of Fayette on Highway 93; an eastbound vehicle driven by 57-year-old Robert Fagle of Fayette went out of control on the icy road, crossed the center line and collided with a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Patricia Dietz of Sumner. Fagle's vehicle also struck a vehicle behind Dietz, driven by 23-year-old Daniel Hampe of Iowa Falls, and owned by KWWL-Channel 7.
Dietz was taken by private vehicle to be checked out at the Sumner hospital; no one else was injured. The accident remains under investigation.
