The temperatures have slightly faded from last week's summer-like weather but we know that warmth will be here to stay very soon. With it will come your family's desire to once again take a dip in the pool.

Two Corridor cities have made separate announcements regarding their pool situation.

Cedar Rapids needs lifeguards

KCRG has reported that Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation will be raising their minimum pay rate to $15 per hour for lifeguards in order to recruit more help.

The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation director, Hasham Taylor said "we offer a great opportunity, especially for first-time employees. For kids who want to work full or part-time, in a fun, outdoor environment, and still enjoy their summer and make new friends, pools are a great place to be."

Applicants should be at least 15 and pass a prerequisite swim test. Applications and information can be found here.

The first municipal Cedar Rapids pool to open will be Noelridge Aquatic Center, opening on Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 28-30). According to a Facebook post from Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation:

Lap swims are Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Open swims are Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Monday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Lap swim admission is $5/person or a pass. Open swim admission is $5.75/person or a pass.

Noelridge will then open for a daily swim on June 4. More information is to come as they work on increasing their lifeguard staff.

Iowa City outdoor pool and splash pads
