There are always a lot of great moments at an Iowa Hawkeye home football game. There is The Wave to the Stead Family Children's Hospital at the end of the first quarter. The Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band at halftime. And singing 'In Heaven There is No Beer' after another Iowa victory. But there was another moment at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday that had fans shedding tears of joy.

The University of Iowa has always made it a point to salute service members past and present at Hawkeye football games. But this past Friday was Veteran's Day and the moment that was about to happen on the field at Kinnick Stadium made thousands realize just how important the holiday is. The Hawkeyes were spotlighting the service of a native Iowan named Bryce, who is currently serving in the United States Navy. His mom and dad were on the field getting recognized. They had been told that their son wouldn't be home until the end of the month. It turns out it would be much sooner.

I can't watch this video without shedding a tear or two myself. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a son or daughter serving, and not being able to see them for months. The tears on everyone's faces say it all. So do the chants of 'USA!'

Touchdowns are great. Interceptions are amazing. But moments like this are what should really be treasured and remembered. Welcome home, Bryce!
