Everyone who heads to Altoona this year for a day of fun at Adventureland Park needs to know about new rules put in place for this year.

The 49-year-old Iowa theme park has disclosed details on its bag policy and chaperone policy.

Adventureland has announced that beginning when the park opens for the 2023 season, each person who enters will be allowed one bag with a maximum size of 15" x 15" x 15". In response to a number of questions, Adventureland has said, "there are exceptions for medical and diaper bags as we understand each family has different needs."

The park will also have a chaperone policy that requires anyone 17 or under to be accompanied by an adult (at least 21 years old with valid ID). That Adventureland policy takes effect each day at 4 p.m.

Finally, Adventureland will require everyone entering to pass through its weapons detection system. The park says it "uses advanced digital sensors, at the front gate. Signage is in place to inform guests they are entering a security screening area."

Additional policies at Adventureland include no smoking or vaping on the property, as well as a dress code. The park's dress code states, "Guest should dress casually and comfortably as is appropriate for the local weather. All Guests must wear proper attire, such as shirts/tops, shorts/pants and footwear, at all times within the theme park. Guest should wear a cover-up or shirt/top and shorts/pants over their bathing suits while enjoying the theme park."

Adventureland opens for the 2023 season on Saturday, May 6. It will be open only on Saturdays through May 20. Beginning that weekend, the park is also open Sundays and Mondays. It will be open seven days a week beginning Thursday, June 1.
