Caitlin Clark has helped lead the Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball team to an 11-1 record so far this season and just about every game she plays in, she's making some kind of NCAAW history. Her career stats have become so incredible, that she's reaching new levels that men's and women's college basketball has never seen before.

She currently holds multiple records that have never been held in the history of college basketball. You almost have to wonder if the NCAA will have to start making up new categories for her career numbers at some point.

She's Iowa's sweetheart, she's taken the nation by storm, celebrities show up to Iowa City to watch her play, and she has done wonderful things for women's sports. Caitlin is a senior but because of the covid year, she has 1 more year of eligibility left of her college career...if she chooses to use it. Will Caitlin come back and play for Iowa next year?

That's the question all Hawkeye basketball fans have been wondering. She spoke about that exact topic to one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time. Former Duke head coach, and current Hall of Famer, Mike Krzyzewski.

Caitlin turns 22 years old in January and currently leads the nation in scoring, averaging 30.2 points per game according to WSPA Sports. She also grabs 6.8 rebounds per game and averages 7.2 assists.

Kelsey Plum ended her college career with 3,527 points. Caitlin currently has 3,079 career points and could eventually pass Plum to become the leading scorer in women's college basketball history.

She could potentially accomplish that this season. If not, will she come back to Iowa and try to finish the job?

It’s a hard decision because, in my eyes, it’s like a win-win. I can go and live out a life of a dream. Or I can stay here and be in college, start working on my master’s, or start working on another degree and still play college basketball with some of my best friends. That’s what almost makes it so hard. Both seem so amazing. It's cool. Obviously, COVID has allowed me the opportunity to even have this choice. I'm just trying to live in the moment. It's a big decision and I'm trying not to get too stressed out about it.

As much as Hawkeye fans would love to hear Caitlin say she's coming back next year, it looks like Caitlin is going to try and enjoy the time she has right now. As selfishly as we fans may want to hear her say she's coming back, so we can enjoy another season of her career, she's going to wait to make that decision.

Whatever her decision is for next season, Caitlin has given every Hawkeye fan a massive reason to watch and be excited about Iowa Hawkeye basketball. We may never see another player like her, ever again.  There's not much more us fans could ask for and we should try to enjoy the ride as long as Caitlin allows us to.
