Shop Local: Waterloo’s Winter Farmers Market Is Open
When I moved to Iowa four years ago, one of the first things that I truly loved about the area was the large amount of farmers markets.
During the warmer months, you could just pop on down to a local farmers market and pick up any fruits, veggies or even eggs at a decent price. Not only do you know exactly where you're getting your groceries from, but you're also supporting a local farmer directly.
It doesn't hurt that a lot of these Eastern Iowa farmers markets have some sweet treats or breads that you can snag too.
All of that excitement goes out the window during winter, since it's too cold to put on any outdoor farmers markets.
Well, a spot in Waterloo has transformed into a space that can provide people with the same experience of shopping at a local farmers market in the heart of winter.

Winter Farmers Market in Waterloo
The same group that organizes the Cedar Valley Farmers Markets is trying to warm up locals with a winter farmers market.
Located at 320 and 322 East 4th Street in Waterloo, the Cedar Valley Farmers Markets' Winter Farmers Market offers a wide selection of products.
There are sixteen vendors with six home bakers, according to a post on the official Facebook page.
You can drop into this market Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
However, it won't be open for the entire winter season.
The Waterloo Winter Farmers Market will close up shop on Friday, February 28th so that the vendors can get ready for the spring market season.
The good news is that you won't have to wait too long to go to a Cedar Valley Farmers Market. According to the official Facebook page, the Waterloo markets will be opening up in May and running through October.
