Authorities have arrested nearly a dozen area residents following a multi-month investigation into illegal drugs.


The Oelwein Police Department, with assistance from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol, has served several arrest warrants in and around the city of Oelwein.

Those arrested are accused of dealing in methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription medications.

They have been identified as:

35-year-old Joseph Barker; 38-year-old Randy Butts; 50-year-old Brad Drewelow; 30-year-old Elizabeth Gabriel; 24-year-old Justin Green; 27-year-old David Latham; 24-year-old Matthew Moore; 32-year-old Brian Otdoerfer; 53-year-old Daniel Parker, all of Oelwein; 19-year-old Abby Green of Fairbank; and 41-year-old Eric Rose of Sumner.

According to Oelwein Police Chief Jeremy Logan, the arrests were a collaborative effort between his department, the Fayette County Sheriff, and Iowa State Patrol, in deterring illegal drug activity in the area.
