NE Iowa In-Home Assault

The Decorah Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a man who entered a woman's home and assaulted her last (Monday) night.

Authorities received a call at about 8pm Monday, about an incident that happened at a home in the 300 block of East Main Street in Decorah.

The victim told police that an unknown man entered her home through an unlocked back screen door. The assailant attacked her in the kitchen, then fled.

The woman, whose name was not released, had only minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'9, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and stocking cap, blue jeans, and had some facial stubble.

Police note that the incident happened in the vicinity of some recent indecent exposure reports on October 2nd, and the suspect had a similar description.

Authorities remind residents to lock their doors, turn on outdoor lights, and report anything suspicious.
