NE Iowan Dies in Wisconsin Snowmobile Accident

We now have a few details on a weekend snowmobile accident that killed a Northeast Iowa woman.

48 year old Michelle Anderson of Marion, formerly of New Hampton, died from injuries in the accident that happened in northern Wisconsin.

The snowmobile accident happened at about 1:30am Saturday on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation in Sawyer County, near Hayward, Wisconsin.

According to a report from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Anderson failed to negotiate a curve in a trail, left the trail, and struck a pile of logs.

Alcohol and speed were cited as factors in the accident.

Local authorities continue to investigate.
