A Northeast Iowa man has been jailed for robbing an Oelwein convenience store, and setting a fire inside the business.

The incident happened Sunday (Sept. 22); Oelwein Police received a report of a robbery in progress at the Cenex convenience store, located at 701 South Frederick Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found that the suspect was still in the store, and that he had set a fire inside the business.

The suspect was identified as 36 year old Dion Moore II of Hazleton. According to the Oelwein Police Department, Moore resisted arrest when officers tried to take him into custody. Moore was subsequently secure, and taken from the scene.

Moore faces charges of: Robbery-2nd Degree, Arson-1st Degree, and Interference with Official Acts by resisting arrest.
The small fire set in the Cenex store was quickly put out by the Oelwein Fire Department. There was only minor damage.

Oelwein Police were assisted at the scene by the Iowa DNR, Fayette County Sheriff, Buchanan County Sheriff, and Oelwein Fire Department.
