A Northeast Iowa man is hospitalized, after crashing into the back of a state snow plow maintenance truck this morning (Monday, Jan. 4).

It happened just before 8am on Highway 13 north of Austin road northeast of Marion in Linn county. A southbound pickup drive by 46 year old Terry Bond of Manchester, failed to change lanes to avoid a collision with an Iowa D.O.T. snow plow, and ran into the back of the truck, which was in the process of clearing snow off the right lane of the highway. Both vehicles were southbound.

Bond was not wearing his seat belt and was seriously injured. He was taken to St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment. A condition report was not available.

The DOT truck driver, Stephen Deck of Marion, was taken by a work vehicle to St. Luke's for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Bond will be charged with causing the accident, failing to wear his seat belt, and was also not valid to drive.
