The search for a Northeast Iowa man who fell into the Mississippi River, has been scaled back.

Jim Wagner of Dubuque, an employee with the Canadian National Railway, fell off a train bridge that crosses the river at Dubuque and East Dubuque, Illinois. Wagner was the only person on the bridge at the time; authorities determined Wagner fell, after viewing security camera footage.

The accident happened early Monday morning. The river was closed to navigation Tuesday, to assist emergency crews in the search. However, no body has been found yet. The effort has been changed from a search, to a recovery operation.

The search area had been from north of the train bridge at Dubuque, south to Bellevue.

The recovery effort continues today (July 5).
