With inflation inflicting pain on American consumers, more companies are trying to offset some of that pain with increased wages. You can now add T-Mobile to the list of companies that are boosting their minimum wage.

CBS News reports that T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert announced that all 75,000 employees now earn $20 per hour minimum wage. Sievert stated that the new hourly rate "is about inclusion, and we wanted to draw a line that ensures no employee is left behind". Sievert went on to note that the majority of the company's employees earn more than that base pay. T-Mobile declined to say just how many of its employees saw their base pay jump to the new $20 an hour rate.

T-Mobile recently revealed that the company lost a lot of its staff during the pandemic and in the wake of last year's merger with Sprint. CBS News reports that the company boosted their minimum wage from $15 to $20 an hour to try and fill 5,000 jobs in the next 18 months. Officials with T-Mobile also noted the ongoing difficulty in hiring and retaining workers in the current environment. Since the increase in wages, T-Mobile says their applications have gone from around 300 per week up to 4,000 per week.

T-Mobile joins a long list of companies that have recently raised their minimum wage to attract workers. Hobby Lobby also recently announced a hike in their minimum wage starting on January 1st, 2022.
