Cedar Falls Receives Grant Money For Main Street Improvements
More upgrades are coming to downtown Cedar Falls.
The Black Hawk County Gaming Commission announced last week that Cedar Falls will be awarded nearly $750,000 for various capital improvement projects, including adding decorative lighting, benches, garbage bins and bike racks.
The project will be done in conjunction with the reconstruction of Second and Third streets. Cedar Falls Mayor Jim Brown told The Courier that the grant money is a "win-win" and gives "a great opportunity to further the city’s mission to keep downtown vibrant and the gaming association’s goal of projects that would assist to keep taxes lower."
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
