One of the quintessential autumn activities is going through a corn maze. With Iowa being one of the country's number one producers of corn, it is safe to assume that the corn mazes here are plentiful.

According to the Iowa Corn Growers Association officials, Iowa ranks number one in the production of corn, soybeans, hogs, and eggs.  However, none of Iowa's corn mazes ranked in any publication's list this year.

Every year USA Today ranks the best corn mazes across the country, and this year Iowa was nowhere on this list.

The top corn mazes are as follows for 2021:

  1. Devine's Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch - Harrodsburg, Kentucky
  2. Treworgy Family Orchards - Levant, Maine
  3. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm - Ronks, Pennsylvania
  4. Exploration Acres - Lafayette, Indiana
  5. Treinen Farm Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch - Lodi, Wisconsin
  6. Denver Downs Farm - Anderson, South Carolina
  7. Happy Day Farm - Manalapan, New Jersey
  8. Maze Craze - New Springfield, Ohio
  9. Cornbelly's - Lehi, Utah
  10. Richardson Adventure Farm - Spring Grove, Illinois

That's right...New Jersey even got a spot in the top ten this year. Even last year saw a significant lack of Iowa corn mazes on these lists.

One well-known Iowa corn maze has made the rounds on several of these best of lists over the past decade. The Pumpkin Ranch in Winterset is frequently called "Iowa's Mega Corn Maze."

Over the past ten years, this family owner and operated honey and pumpkin farm has pulled off quite a few impressive mazes. You can see what they ended up doing in 2015 down below.

The Pumpkin Ranch opened for the season in mid-September; and has activities that are fun for the entire family including zip lines, giant slides, jump pillow, and corn pool. You can click here to check out their full calendar of activities.

You can also check out some of their other impressive mazes over the years here.

Another impressive corn maze is in Donnellson. Over the years, Harvestville has done some massive corn mazes, and in recent years part of their proceeds went to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.

This is their most recent corn maze for this season.
