Jenna Twait helped lead the way for he Hudson Pirates girls cross country team to win the school's first Iowa Girls High School State Championship.

After finishing in the runner-up spot one year earlier, the Pirates nailed their first title on Saturday (Oct. 28) in Fort Dodge. Twait (Sophomore) led the team with a time of 19:47.6 and finished 13th. Senior Grace Jorgensen crossed the line in 21st place (20:23.4).

Hudson scored a team total 104 points beating out Panorama by 11 points (115 pts) for the championship. Kee, Lansing (133 pts) and Logan-Magnolia (140 pts) finished third and fourth respectively.

South Winneshiek's Felicity Taylor (Senior) came home in fifth place (19:25.2), and that help closed out the top five finish for the Warriors.

Central, Elkader finished sixth. Denver ended the day in seventh. St. Edmond, Alta-Aurelia, and Pekin rounded out the top ten.
