Someone living in the Cedar Valley could be a new millionaire.

A Powerball ticket sold at a Waterloo convenience store last week is worth $2 million dollars. Iowa Lottery officials said someone bought the ticket at New Star Liquor, 1625 W. 4th Street, near the Six Corners intersection. The ticket came within one number of having at least a share of Saturday night's $155.9 million jackpot.

According to Iowa Lottery officials, the ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball. That combination resulted in a $1 million prize, but the buyer added the Power Play option which doubled the winnings.

New Star Liquor will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.

Whoever purchased the ticket must claim the $2 million prize at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in the Des Moines suburb of Clive with one year.

Lottery officials said no one matched all the numbers, so the estimated prize for Wednesday's drawing increases to an estimated $168 million. Saturday's winning numbers were: 12-17-20-21-26 and Powerball 8. The Power Play number was 3.

The Powerball ticket sold in Waterloo last week wasn't the only one that produced a large prize in northeast Iowa. A Winneshiek County woman is one-quarter-of-a-million dollars richer after playing the "250,000 Extreme Cash" scratch game.

According to Iowa Lottery officials, Patricia Sands of Ridgeway purchased her winning ticket a local convenience store. She claimed her prize Wednesday at the lottery's regional office in Mason City.

The $250,000 was the third largest prize won in the scratch game's history. The Powerball prize is the second-largest in Iowa this year.
