Dr. Anthony Fauci praised Iowa's response to COVID-19 saying, 'hey really are doing a very good job.'

On Monday, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease praised the state of Iowa for its response to the coronavirus pandemic and said the state’s steps to slow the virus were, compatible with what everyone else is doing and, regarding shelter in place are 'functionally equivalent.'

WHO-TV reports Dr. Fauci 'had good conversations' with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts regarding both states’ efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Last week Dr. Fauci said he couldn't figure out why every state didn't have a shelter in place order. On Monday, he went on to clarify his shelter in place comment by saying, quote,

I want to make sure people understand that just because they don’t have a very strict stay-at-home order, they have in place a lot of things that are totally compatible with what everyone else is doing.
