Living in the Cedar Valley you know it can be HOT one day and COLD the next. That is an Iowa autumn in a nutshell. But despite fluctuating temps, no one can deny the beauty of the season. The colors of the leaves changing from green to amber or even bright yellow. It's really quite awesome. But when is it going to be at its peak?

Good news: THIS WEEKEND! (And the weather should be lovely, too with actual sunshine in the forecast. Woo!)

According to the Travel Iowa, we'll be seeing the fall foliage color hit its peak on October 13th which is this Saturday. Expect to see some walnut and hickory trees be showing off rich yellow color, while maples will showcase bright yellow and orange leaves. Sadly this season the wind and harsher rains have removed much of the walnut and ash leaves in the area. But don't let that deter you from visiting Hartman Nature Reserve this weekend or early next week. Bring your kids and your camera! This season goes WAY too fast every year.
