The recent flash flooding in Northeast Iowa has claimed a rural bridge.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff, the bridge located east of Wadena on Acorn Road, north of County Road C-24, was destroyed by flood waters, generated by torrential rains the area received last Friday, July 21st.

The bridge is known to local residents as the Frey Bridge, which spans the Volga River, east of Wadena in rural Fayette County.

Over the weekend, volunteers put up barricades to keep the public safe. There is no indication if or when the bridge would be repaired.
