Former University of Iowa linebacker Chad Greenway announced his retirement from the NFL Wednesday morning.

The 34-year-old Greenway was drafted with the 17th overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft and spent the entirety of his 11-year career with the Minnesota Vikings. A former National High School Player of the Year & two-time All-American at Iowa, Greenway retires as one of the most decorated players in Vikings history, receiving the team's Defensive Player of the Year honor three times (2010, 2012, 2013), and recording more than 1,000 tackles during his career.

A superior athlete on the field, Greenway is also well-respected for his charity work off the field. His Lead The Way Foundation assists families in need by providing seriously ill and physically-challenged children throughout the Twin Cities with daily support and life-changing experiences. Greenway's Gridiron Gallop 5K helps raise money for scholarships granted to inner-city students unable to afford the cost of youth sports.
