How Guys Can Not Screw Up Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day is not just another date night with your lady; it's the most important night of the year!

Be prepared. Showing up at a restaurant unprepared with no reservation will result in a very unhappy girlfriend.

If you get her flowers, don't just grab some crummy bouquet. Don’t choose a pre-made bouquet that’s covered in cheap and corny plastic wrap. Go the extra mile and actually talk to the florist!

Sweets and chocolate are another failsafe, but be creative. Chocolate-covered strawberries are the perfect place to start.

Maybe if your girl is unconventional, don't just fall for the conventional Valentine's Day gifts. Not everyone thinks the dozen roses with a heart-shaped box of chocolates is the way to go. Do you have a cookie-cutter woman in your life? Then why would you get her cookie-cutter gifts? Treat it like another birthday. Get her something she wants, or use the occasion to show her you remember things about her. Does she love Coca-Cola memorabilia? Find a stuffed polar bear.

Cupcakes or gourmet cookies are another key to any girl’s heart. They have to be beautiful, as well as delicious. On Valentine’s Day, presentation is everything.

Have something delivered to her, and make sure she will be there to open the door. It is SO important that you absolutely make sure you know her schedule. You may have to go above and beyond for this one, but it completely loses the impact when someone else has to receive the gift for her.

Just be creative when planning your date, and make a real effort! It's one thing to go all-out on a wonderful gift, but if you're following that up with "Netflix and chill" you'll probably get the kind of "chill" you're not expecting. Thinking outside of the box will really win her heart over everything else. What she will love and appreciate the most is a very special, unique plan that shows you really thought this one through.

Let her make the first move when it comes to the end of the night. Women love a take-charge guy but if you're too eager to just get to the bedroom portion it screams insincerity. Do you really want her thinking you just went through the motions on all the other stuff just so you can get to have sex?
