Hudson Days, Waverly Heritage Days Canceled This Summer

The coronavirus pandemic continues to put a damper on community celebrations planned for the summer of 2020.

On Monday, organizers of Hudson Days announced that this year's festival has been canceled due to health concerns. Festival planners said in a Facebook post that it was an "agonizing decision", one that was made after "much deliberation, consultation, and consideration".

Organizers are in the process of contacting sponsors, vendors, and entertainers. Hudson Days was scheduled for July 16-19 this year.

Last week, organizers of Waverly Heritage Days made the decision to postpone this year's event until 2021. Waverly's celebration was scheduled for the same weekend as Hudson Days, July 16-19.

Several other summer events have fallen victim to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other town celebrations NOT being held this summer include: My Waterloo Days, Vinton's Boomtown, Strawberry Days in Strawberry Point, and the 19th annual Celebrate Indee Festival along with the 160th 4th of July parade in Independence.

The first night of downtown Waterloo's Friday'Loo Summer Concert Series -- scheduled for May 15 at Lincoln Park -- has also been canceled.
