Prices in the grocery aisle keep going up while supplies keep going down. If the Easter Sunday meal is important to you and your family, and you are concerned about how to make it happen, Hy-Vee can help!

This Tuesday, April 12, local first responders and Hy-Vee employees will team up to give away a limited supply of free hams for Easter, and yes, it will be after working hours for most.

Iowa's News Now says the giveaway will begin at 5 p.m. at Veteran's Memorial Stadium, 950 Rockford Rd. SW, with first-come, first-served Hormel Cure 81 hams available.

volunteers will distribute hams via drive-through. In accordance with social distancing guidelines, hams will be loaded into cars through a contactless method

Please enter the stadium from 15th St SW, where you will then be directed to the parking lot, and exit from 8th St. While the event starts at 5, if you can try to sneak out of work early to get there, you might want to. It will last until 7 or until all the hams are gone.

This location is part of a company-wide giveaway Hy-Vee is offering across 19 locations in 10 states. KWQC says Davenport will have their ham giveaway tonight, Monday, April 11, also from 5-7 p.m. at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.

According to B100, Dubuque will also have their giveaway tonight

Don't forget, if you'd rather skip the cooking, and take the family out for an Easter brunch, several Eastern Iowa restaurants are offering specials this week. Check our list here.
