I love the roundabouts in Cedar Falls. I really do. Oh, and if you're like me, you'll be excited to learn we're getting a new one. I'll get to the location of our 13th roundabout in a moment. I feel like I've got some 'splaining to do.

So, I'm not a patient driver. I despise four way stops because most Iowans seem passive aggressive when they drive... Inch forward... no you go... inch forward... I said YOU go... ARGHHH. Stoplights are as bad or worse. How often do you hit a stoplight and there's no one going on the side where it's green. YAWN. Roundabouts put those issues to rest. I approach, see no one else is going to hit the roundabout with me, and I cruise through. Nifty. Sure, you get the occasional clueless motorist who will stop at the roundabout, look around, then go. Or worse, stop in the MIDDLE of the roundabout. Yikes. But these issues are uncommon and, as the roundabouts time in the area increase, people are figuring them out. So what is their not to like? They can be confusing, I'll grant you. Sometimes people will fly by you even when you have the right-of-way. But again, issues are uncommon and minor. By my estimation anyway.

When I read the news, reported by KWWL, that Cedar Falls was getting another fresh roundabout, I was excited. This new roundabout will be located at Greenhill Road and South Main Street - seen below.

This is near the new Fareway, new Kwk Star and new public safety building. Lots of new construction and additional traffic. Construction is set to begin in the spring of 2021, and wrap-up that next fall in 2022. If there's one gripe to have about these things, that's a LONG project. See you on the other side... of the roundabout.
