How Iowa Residents Can Get Tickets for the Dyersville MLB Game

With another MLB at Field of Dreams Game set to grace Dyersville in August, Major League Baseball has announced ticket lottery registration has opened exclusively for Iowa residents.

On August 13th, the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies will play a regular season game on the permanent stadium constructed adjacent to the Field of Dreams Movie Site. The MLB at Field of Dreams Series went dormant for three seasons after hosting games at the site in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022. This was so construction on a permanent, playable field could commence. Now that construction has wrapped, it's almost time to play ball.

How Iowans Can Enter the Field of Dreams Ticket Lottery:

The registration window is officially open as of Thursday, June 4th, and will remain open for one week (until Thursday, June 11th). Ticket lottery winners will be selected on June 17th, with the sales of those tickets beginning the following day, June 18th. Lottery winners will have an opportunity to purchase two tickets, per Telegraph Herald.

The MLB isn't the only league coming to Dyersville for some baseball action. A Minor League game between the Triple-A Iowa Cubs and the St. Paul Saints will be held two days prior to the MLB game on August 11th. Pre-sale for the minor league game starts on June 23rd; public sale begins on June 30th.

Previous MLB at Field of Dreams Games Have Lived Up to the Hype:

The first MLB at Field of Dreams Game in 2021 was absolutely magical. Kevin Costner appeared out of the dense cornfields for a tribute to the beloved 1989 film. The tribute preceded a showdown for the ages as the Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees in an ending that was straight out of a movie of its own.

It was a game of traded leads until White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson solidified the win with a walk-off home-run into the cornfields. The Sox sent the Yankees home, 9-8, and Anderson had his 13th home-run of the season. It was one of the best baseball games I ever watched.

While not as much of a storybook thrill-ride as the inaugural game, the subsequent year saw the Chicago Cubs defeat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 in 2022.
