Tropical Smoothie Cafe Takes Place of Former Pita Pit in Dubuque

A popular smoothie chain now has a presence in Dubuque with approximately 30 employees. It takes the space of the former Pita Pit location on Dubuque's West End, which closed back in April.

As of late September, Tropical Smoothie Cafe is now open at 2515 Northwest Arterial. The Telegraph Herald noted back in September that leaders of the local franchise group chose Dubuque because they saw the need for healthy food and beverage options in the city.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe's menu includes 24 smoothies that encompass both healthy and sweet flavors, and are served in 24-ounce sizes. Food options range from salad bowls to flatbreads, wraps, and there are also breakfast offerings in the form of a bacon, egg, and cheese wrap.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has more than 1,750 locations across the country. The 1,500-square-foot space in which the Dubuque location operates is smaller than the average Tropical Smoothie Cafe location, per Telegraph Herald, but the leadership group behind the restaurant found the space attractive thanks to its presence in a bustling shopping district as well as its placement off the NW Arterial.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe can operate in smaller-than-average spaces due to a lack of major kitchen equipment ala fryers and other things common in most restaurants. As the name suggests, the new Dubuque location boasts a tropical/beach ambiance to complement their wide variety of smoothie and food offerings.
